LSC’s Emergency Response Training Center Becoming Premier Upper Midwest Training Facility for Fire Departments

Lake Superior College Emergency Response Training Center (ERTC) will host five probationary firefighters from the Rochester, Minnesota Fire Department for their required fire ground training. Rochester FD has committed to use LSC’s facility and instructors for this training, making them the first external group to use the recently completed multi-level fire training facility constructed by LSC faculty and staff in the firefighting program, along with volunteers from neighboring fire department and donated materials from industry and community partners. The training will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both October 15 and 16, the first part of the day being class instruction and hands-on training taking place in the early afternoon. There will be live fire in the newly built burn box metropolis for nearly all of the training rotations both afternoons. Lake Superior College constructed these multi-level burn boxes to become the regional training destination for fire departments throughout the upper Midwest and look forward to welcoming Rochester FD as the first group to use the new facility. LSC’s ERTC is also in communication with several other fire departments throughout the region to schedule similar trainings next year.
